Oak German Grandfather Clock (1890)

Oak German Grandfather Clock - 1890

Year: 1890's
Price: $3,550.00 USD

Description: Oak German Grandfather Clock, this incredible oak German tall case clock was manufactured by LFS, which was founded by Lorenze Furtwangler in 1836 in Furtwangen, Germany. LFS was known for their good quality precision movements and well built cases. Production was at its height circa 1900. The factory closed in 1929. This clock is part of a 4 piece matching library/office furnishing. The matching chair, bookcase and desk are being sold as one separate set elsewhere on our website. The clock has exquisitely and deeply carved details throughout. Note the carved lion heads on the cornice and scrolling leaves and vines below. The case has carved ionic fluted columns on either side of the beveled glass door. The silvered round dial has painted raised numerals and fancy engravings. Notice how each side of the case has a tall narrow recessed paneled door with an ornately pierced carved scrolling design. The doors allow easy access to the clocks works and movement. The bottom of the front door has an incredibly carved panel of a winged angel flanked by the intricately carved column bases. Below the door is another panel with additional detailed carvings of lion heads and a classical urn. The clock rests on bun feet. The case is in excellent original condition. There is a 2" area on the top right crest that shows an earlier damage and professional repair. It is only visible upon close examination and does not distract from the piece. The clocks 8 day works are all original and in excellent working condition. It strikes every quarter hour. Notice the fancy silvered weights and pendulum. What a handsome, beautiful sounding addition to your home or office.
