There are the six types of Javanese edged weapon:
1. Keris (blade), the passion blade of Javanese culture. Regarded more as symbol of status and power rather than weapon. Local belief about the magical power give a different dimension of "weapon" to this artistic blade and to the other types as well.
2. Tumbak (spear), spear of Java which is not less important than Keris.
3. Patrem (women's blade), a smaller type of Keris specially designed for ladies.
4. Bliring (thrust blade), thrust blade with various length.
5. Golok (manchete), traditional machete of Java.
6. Pedang (sword), Javanese sword.
